Computer Problems

Electric Chargecooler Pump
LEW has finally fitted the Electric Chargecooler Pump to it's 1992 SE. Having had this pump for ages and the loom prepared by Lotus we have finally found the time to fit it to our Esprit. The original pump was working fine, but has been removed for this more reliable and non-service needing pump. The guide to buying, installing and testing is currently being put together and will be published on the site soon.–––––––––––––––

Donington 2005
LEW will again be at Donington for the Lotus Festival. The major Esprit gathering will be on this Sunday (20th March), as the event is held over two days Saturday 19th – Sunday 20th March 2004. Hope to see plenty of Esprit owners at the first big meeting of the year!Members wishing to meet up:

My name is Ewan smith I run a business in Carnoustie Called Coatech surface technologies and we specialise in alloy wheel refurbishment and have been involved also with the refurbishment of esprit split rims.I can repair and rufurbish your wheels and bring them back to the orginal finish.
I had the same problem with my griffith alloy wheels and what i did was blast cleaned them powder primed the wheels coated them in the original base coat colour and powder laquered the wheels the came up like new and they are now easy to keep by using soap and water i charge £50 for 1 wheel inc delivery back to youself and it takes 2 days my advice for anyone with alloy wheels is try and avoid acid based cleaners such as wonder wheels etc purely from the fact is that it does eat into the laquer and dull them silghtly.

Engine Oil @ Hanger 111
Elise parts company Hanger 111 have on the shelf a number of 1 ltr bottles of the oil recommended in the Lubricant article (Castrol Formula RS 10w/60). If any Esprit owners are interested in these, they are priced at £ 8 per ltr while their stock lasts (normally around 9.99 per litre). There will be a small charge for shipping on top of this.You won't find it on the website as it's not compatible with the Elise/Exige/340R kit Hanger 111 sell. It was basically in with a bulk purchase of new/unused bits and bobs they purchased. Their range is currently Elise, Exige and 340R, but with a new website due

Dermot O'Hare, one of the most active Esprit owners in the UK has just launched his own website for his Esprit S4. V8 needed for AutoCar Photo Shoot
AutoCar Magazine are doing a '£100 a week heroes' feature which will include an Esprit V8. AutoCar are looking for a 1998 onwards Esprit V8 worth around £25,000 for a photo shoot for this feature. Damper development @ Hethel
Lotus continues to support Esprit owners at Hethel with the development of new damper supplies. The dampers have arrived from Lotus' new supplier and Ride & Handling Engineers will be building them up ready for testing. The exercise should start next week – Lotus will do a baseline appraisal on the current parts before they begin the development exercise on their V8.Lotus will be keeping LEW in the picture as the development progress. Once the V8 specification is complete Lotus will then start to look at other Esprit models and will be using LEW's support to identify owners willing to get involved and have dampers fitted to their cars for Lotus to assess.

200mph Esprit
LEW has been contact by 5th gear with regard to their attempts to get their Esprit V8 up to 200mph. More info as it's available for release, but it does seem the project is far from dead.See the first episode here.

Membership
Membership hit 225 today when Paul Bassford joined Club LEW. As the club grows, it will give us more power to get discounts on Lotus goods. We are currently finalising a review and discount of a product to add to the list of discounts available.
